    COMUNICAT

Buzău County Museum, a cultural and research institution that operates under the authority of the Buzau County Council, based in mun. Buzau, bd. Nicolae Bălcescu, no. 50, jud. Buzau, legally represented by dr. Daniel Costache-Bolocan, as Manager and Special Technological High School for Children with Auditory Deficiencies in Buzau, legally represented by Antoanela Marinov, have the honor to organize 2 workshops coordinated by the curators Abigail Hirsch (Tel Aviv) and Mădălina Oprea (Buzau) for 30 students with hearing impairments and other disabilities.

Curator Abigail will experience different ways of actively engaging the public with disabilities through multisensory exploration and creative improvisational methods, being from this point of view a debut for our institution.

Starting from the functionality of the phone, as a means of communication of messages, the workshops will create students from the Technological High School Special for Children with Auditory Deficiencies in Buzau the opportunity to explore in a creative way different ways of communication. Each student will create a visual message (symbol/text), explore the history of the phone and understand the importance of this invention in our lives, how messages are delivered today through different types of devices (phones, in particular). The workshops will aim to explore ways to develop a dialogue through a multisensory approach and are supported by a kit composed of various elements and didactic, playful, artistic objects. Students will create their own visual message or model using the technique of printing by linogravure. The configuration of the workshops will be flexible and will be able to be adapted to the capacity, rhythm and special needs of the students.

Abigail Hirsch, artist, curator and educator with 20 years of experience in museums in the UK, Israel, Germany, etc., held in Bucharest, in September 2017, at Museums Meets Museums, an international seminar that was organized by the National Network of Museums in Romania, where lecturers from museums awarded with EMYA or Micheletti Award, world-renowned professionals, were present.
