The exhibition "Monetary circulation at the Carpathian Bend - from antiquity to the XVIII" presents the main discoveries from the territory of Buzău County, covering a very wide chronological range: from the III BC BC and until the beginning of the century the nineteenth.

The monetary types from the century III BC AD - II AD are reflected in particular by the monetary hoards from Cârlomăneşti and Băbeni (composed of Dacian silver coins), as well as those from Homeşti (composed of republican and imperial Roman coins) and Cislău (imperial coins) . The late period of the Roman Empire is represented by numerous isolated finds, made of bronze, issued during the emperors Constantine the Great, Theodosius I, Arcadius, Honorius, Marcianus and Leo I (IV-V centuries).

The period of time between VI-XII is represented by isolated Byzantine monetary finds, made of bronze, silver and gold, issued starting from the reign of Justinian I and up to Manuel I.

To illustrate the coins in circulation during the medieval period, several monetary hoards from the territory of the county are exhibited. We mention the treasure from Glodeanu Siliştea (composed of Hungarian denarii, 15th-16th century), the one from Bradu (Hungarian and large Polish denarii, 16th-17th century), the Old Saxons (Hungarian and large Polish denarii, 16th- XVII), but also the Ottoman ones from Cojanu, Buzău, Roşioru, Nișcov (dated towards the end of the medieval period).

The presence of these monetary hoards indicates the important role that Buzăul played in the trade that connected Transylvania with the mouths of the Danube, but also Moldova with Wallachia.
