Modern and contemporary era
The basic exhibition "The modern and contemporary history of Buzău" reproduces the evolution of this community over a century and a half.
The objects exhibited thematically and chronologically illustrate the significant moments of local history with reference to the national one: the revolutionary year 1848; the era of the union of the Romanian Principalities, the war for Romanian Independence, the uprising of 1907, the First and Second World Wars, Buzăul in the interwar period, Buzăul under communism, the events of December 1989. The activity of some personalities from Buzăul is also reflected: the politician Alexandru Marghiloman, the actor Vladimir Maximilian and the military Constantin Apostol.
In a very generous space, the exhibition capitalizes on a rich and varied heritage belonging to the History section of the Buzău County Museum. The exhibition is complemented by multimedia means that augment the visitor's experience. The application "Buzăul in images" makes available to the public over 1300 photos from the city of Buzău from the end of the century. the 19th to the present. At the same time, images from Buzău County during the 1960s-1970s (post collectivization), as well as documentary films about Alexandru Marghiloman and the Revolution of December 1989 in Buzău, can be explored in the hall.
