How the earth breathes
Buzău County Museum, an institution of culture, art and research operating under the authority of the Buzău County Council announces the organization of the temporary photographic art exhibition "How the Earth Breathes" from 2-31 October 2024.
The exhibition is a personal project of director Dan Mihalcea. It consists of 20 photographs illustrating the natural phenomenon of the Muddy Volcanoes of the Small Pillars and aims to draw attention to on the contamination of the environment with materials that can negatively influence the natural function of ecosystems. About this projecthe author says that "I intentionally put no punctuation mark at the end of the title so that each viewer can put the one that he feels best suits his point of view. It can be the question mark, it can be the exclamation mark, it can be left without, or it can be with a comma after the first word, and likewise, there can again be two possibilities with the punctuation marks brought into the question. Each variant has another meaning that the observer can discover".
About the author: Dan Mihalcea lives in Bucharest. He was born in Râmnicu Vâlcea. He is a film and television director, cinematographer and photographer. He graduated from the Faculty of Arts of the University Hyperion from Bucharest, specializing in Film and Television Directing. He obtained a Master's degree in Cinematography and Media, in the study program Cinematographic Dramaturgy. Film and Television Screenwriting, at the same faculty. He is currently a PhD student in his third year of study in the field of Cinematography and Media at the Faculty of Theater and Film at the University of the University Babeș-Bolyai from Cluj-Napoca. From 1995 to the present, director Dan Mihalcea has worked in various artistic programs and in several positions in the TV system and outside it: artistic director, editing director, cinematographer, cinematographer, documentary filmmaker, product, catalog and event photographer. Director Dan Mihalcea is a laureate of international and national documentary film festivals. He is the author of the works featured in the traveling exhibition of religious photography Canonicon which was opened in 12 Romanian cities between 2012-2014 in art galleries, art and history museums, county libraries and cultural centers. In Bucharest the exhibition opened at the Romanian Cultural Institute in 2014.
The opening of the exhibition will take place on Wednesday, October 2, 2024, at 12.00 at the headquarters of the Museum of Archaeology, History and Art (headquarters of the Buzău County Museum), 1, Aleea Castanilor Street, mun. Buzău, Temporary Exhibition Hall, ground floor.
